SCOTT MORRISON FAILS TO RULE OUT ATTACK ON WORKERS’ PAY
TONY BURKE MP
Scott Morrison has failed to rule out cuts to Australians’ pay and conditions under his extreme workplace relations regime.

At the weekend he said he was resurrecting his legislation – which included scrapping the Better Off Overall Test and therefore legalising workplace agreements that cut the pay and conditions of workers.

If he scraps something called the “Better Off Overall Test”, guess what will happen? Australians will be worse off.

Now that Labor has called him out on his nasty plans he is obfuscating.

Asked twice if he would go after the BOOT the best he could manage was there would be no “major changes”.

That should send shivers down the spine of every working Australian.

The problem with that is he always insisted that his plan to scrap the BOOT was no big deal. He’s always sought to downplay his attack so workers didn’t see it coming.

So what changes is he planning?

Asked today to clarify he said: "And so the measures that I have already articulated to you and that are set out well in the legislation, I think, are very clear."

The only thing that’s clear is Mr Morrison is sharpening his knives to cut Australians’ pay.

It was Labor and the crossbench who stopped Mr Morrison getting these changes through the Parliament last year. When the government was forced to shelve their plan they insisted it was “sensible and proportionate” – and signalled they would have another go.

At a time when the price of everything has gone up and your pay has gone backwards, Mr Morrison now wants to cut your pay even further and make your job less secure.
