RAID SCANDAL ENGULFS ANOTHER MINISTER’S OFFICE
BRENDAN O’CONNOR MP
Reports that Michael Keenan’s office was involved in tipping off the media prior to the AFP raids on the Australian Workers Union raises serious questions over how far this cover up extends.

Buzzfeed has reported that a journalist received a phone call from a staff member from Mr Keenan’s office before the raids occurred.

This raises the question – how far does this scandal go?

In October last year, Minister Cash sensationally misled the Senate five times about her office’s responsibility for tipping off the media prior to the AFP raids.

If the latest allegation is correct, and Mr Keenan’s office put the AFP and the investigation at risk by leaking to the media, when Mr Keenan was Justice Minister, it is unacceptable and disgraceful.

Instead of fronting up to Senate Estimates this evening, Minister Cash has gone missing, hiding from scrutiny. She needs to front up and take responsibility.

The integrity of this Government is shot. How can anyone believe anything any Minister ever says?
