Minister welcomes FWO Small Business Showcase
The Hon Craig Laundy MP
Minister for Small and Family Business, the Workplace and Deregulation, Craig Laundy, today welcomed the launch of the Fair Work Ombudsman’s Small Business Showcase.
The online hub has information for different stages of a small business including hiring, paying employees, keeping the right records and managing employees.
There is also a small business checklist and information to keep businesses up to date with their workplace relations obligations.
“I thank the Fair Work Ombudsman for developing this new resource and encourage all small business owners to check out the showcase to ensure they know everything they need to know about their obligations under workplace law,” Minister Laundy said.
“The Australian Government is backing small business to drive jobs and growth by focusing on improving the business environment.
“We have lowered taxes with the corporate tax rate at its lowest level in 50 years, cut nearly $6 billion worth of red tape, extended the $20,000 instant tax write off to help businesses purchase new equipment, shown leadership by reducing our payment times to small business suppliers and increased access to new markets through new trade agreements.
“Our Small Business Digital Taskforce, for example, is currently looking at barriers faced by small businesses as they try to keep pace with digital change and opportunities.”
The Fair Work Ombudsman also has a dedicated small business helpline to provide tailored advice for small businesses. The helpline has taken half a million calls since it was set up at the end of 2013.
Call the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94 and follow the prompts for small business priority service. Information on the Fair Work Ombudsman’s Small Business Showcase can be found here:
