SAFETY EXPERT REAPPOINTED TO NOPSEMA ADVISORY BOARD
SENATOR THE HON MATTHEW CANAVAN
Patricia Kerin, Director of the Institution of Chemical Engineers Safety Centre, has been reappointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) until March 2021.
Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matt Canavan welcomed the reappointment, noting Ms Kerin’s distinguished career in process safety.
“Ms Kerin has made a substantial contribution to the expertise of the NOPSEMA Advisory Board since her initial appointment in 2015,” Minister Canavan said.
“The Advisory Board provides advice and makes recommendations to NOPSEMA as Australia’s independent expert regulator of safety and environmental management for offshore oil and gas activities.
“The diversity of board members’ skills and expertise, including engineering, safety risk management, stakeholder engagement and the environment, means that it is able to provide high-level policy and strategic advice across a range of topics.
“Ms Kerin will continue to support NOPSEMA’s role in maintaining and improving the occupational health and safety performance and environmental management of the offshore petroleum industry.”
The Minister said Ms Kerin: had worked as an industry representative on national and state safety bodies, and in occupational health and safety; was an Honours graduate in Mechanical Enginering from RMIT; and was a professional safety engineer.
Ms Kerin’s reappointment had been supported by the COAG Energy Council.
