Littleproud to Labor: Get on board
David Littleproud MP
Minister for Agriculture David Littleproud has called on Labor to help farmers by backing the Coalition’s $5 billion Future Drought Fund.

The fund will pay $100 million a year to help farmers be more resilient, better prepared for drought and adapt to climate change.

Labor appears determined to oppose the fund to instead spend money in city electorates.

“Helping the farmers who grow our food should be above politics,” Minister Littleproud said.

“Labor should not oppose the Drought Future Fund just because the Coalition thought of it.

“Labor should not hold struggling Australian farmers to ransom to win city votes. Without farmers, city people have nothing to eat.

“Profitable farms employ people and keep rural economies running during the tough times.

“This fund will invest in infrastructure projects, water-efficiency technology and help improve environmental and natural resource management on farms.

“It takes guts to admit when you’ve made a mistake. I call on Labor to show some guts and back the Future Drought Fund.”
