National seafood industry body lands excellent CEO
Senator Anne Ruston
Australia’s new national peak body, Seafood Industry Australia (SIA), yesterday announced Ms Jane Lovell as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer.
Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources Anne Ruston today welcomed the appointment of Ms Lovell as an excellent result for the organisation.
“Ms Lovell is well-equipped for the role, with extensive knowledge in the fisheries sector, work in important related areas of food safety and quality assurance and strong links to seafood industry members,” Minister Ruston said.
“Along with the SIA board, she will be a strong advocate for Australia’s $2.8 billion seafood industry, working on an array of issues that affect both our state and Commonwealth fisheries.
“The government delivered on its 2013 election commitment, supporting the establishment of a peak seafood industry body.
“SIA gives this vital industry stronger representation, and has widespread industry support.
“I look forward to working with Ms Lovell and the SIA chair Veronica Papacosta to ensure Australia continues to have a world class seafood industry.”
