Supporting Younger Veterans
Dan Tehan MP
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Dan Tehan said grant funding of almost $1 million announced today would go to local projects that improved the transition process and employment prospects for younger veterans.
Mr Tehan said the second round of funding under the Supporting Younger Veterans grants would deliver innovative and sustainable services for younger veterans.
“The Government has provided funding to 12 ex-service organisations around the country to deliver unique programs targeting the needs of younger veterans,” Mr Tehan said.
“The projects are focussed on support services for younger veterans and improving post- service employment opportunities.
“In Sydney, ten young veterans will be trained as Disaster Response Instructors; in Morwell, veterans will restore old ‘muscle cars’ while receiving on-the-job training and mentoring; and in Sturt, money will be used to purchase furniture and appliances for short-term accommodation for veterans.
“Leaving the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is a critical period for personnel and the Government is focussed on making the transition as smooth as possible.”
