KICK OFF AT MOUNT BARKER THANKS TO REGIONAL FUNDING
SENATOR THE HON. MATHIAS CORMANN
The Turnbull Government will build a brand new, premier-standard sports hub in Mount Barker as part of our plan for a stronger economy.

The Turnbull Government’s $4.4 million commitment will deliver a new sporting precinct with an oval and football centre along with two soccer pitches for the people of Mount Barker.

Liberal Candidate for Mayo Georgina Downer said the new sports hub builds on the Regional Hub Aquatic Centre already delivered for Mount Barker.

“With a rapidly growing community, Mount Barker needs and deserves modern infrastructure,” Ms Downer said.

“Community infrastructure is a vital part of my plan for the people of Mayo.

“Our community has demanded new sporting and aquatic centres and I am delivering more for Mayo.

“Staying physically and mentally healthy is so important and this new sports hub will make that easier and more accessible for our community.”

Ms Downer said the project will deliver nine jobs during construction and four ongoing roles in the Mount Barker community, ensuring our region will continue to thrive and prosper into the future.

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann said the Turnbull Government’s plan for a stronger economy would back businesses to invest more and create jobs in Mayo.

“As well as working to deliver a lower globally more competitive tax rate for all businesses across Australia, the Turnbull Government is investing well over $200 million in 136 projects like this one across Australia,” Minister Cormann said.

“This means, in each successful community much anticipated local projects are receiving the funds needed to take a big idea and make it a reality.

“It’s all part of our broader plan for a stronger economy and more jobs, driving growth and building stronger regional communities across Australia.
