VISIT TO TIMOR-LESTE
SENATOR THE HON ANNE RUSTON
I will travel to Dili, Timor-Leste, from 20 to 22 November to further strengthen our strong bilateral relationship.
My visit builds upon the visit of Australia’s then foreign minister, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, in July and the signing of the historic Maritime Boundary Treaty in March this year.

Australia has deep and enduring ties with Timor-Leste based on our shared history, values and interests.

My meetings with Timorese leaders will provide an opportunity to discuss the depth and breadth of our development partnership and our commitment to step up further our support for Timor-Leste.

Australia’s partnership with Timor-Leste is both longstanding and substantial. This year alone, Australia will provide more than AUD$91 million in development assistance.

While in Timor-Leste, I will visit a number of Australian-funded development projects to see firsthand how our assistance is improving the lives of Timorese.

I will also meet with Australia Award recipients and workers participating in the Seasonal Workers Program, which is delivering significant benefits to Australian farmers and Timorese workers.

The Morrison Government is committed to taking our partnership with Timor-Leste to a new level.
