Support for remote and rural child care services
THE HON DAN TEHAN MP
Child care services in regional and remote Australia are receiving Morrison Government funding to ensure they can better support local families.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan today announced funding of more than $2.5 million for 16 child care providers.
More than 700 child care services will now share more than $110 million to improve their sustainability, increase local child care participation and create more child care places in areas of high need through the Morrison Government’s Community Child Care Fund.
“The Morrison Government is supporting parents to access child care through our reforms to the Child Care Subsidy,” Mr Tehan said.
“Out-of-pocket child care costs for families are down by more than 10 per cent since our Government’s Child Care Subsidy was introduced on 2 July 2018.
“Our Government is also supporting child care providers to keep their doors open and take more children through our Community Child Care Fund.
“We are helping to give vulnerable children a head start in their education and a stronger start in life.
“Being able to access early education and child care services also enables parents and carers to increase their engagement in the workforce, study or volunteer in their local communities.”
