SCOTT MORRISON CAN’T BE TRUSTED WITH AGED CARE
THE HON JULIE COLLINS MP
Scott Morrison’s election eve announcement on aged care funding is too little too late, and doesn’t make up for his cuts that have hurt older Australians.

Scott Morrison cut $1.2 billion from aged care in his first Budget as Treasurer - backing in his $500 million cut in MYEFO.

Today’s announcement isn’t even half of Morrison’s aged care cuts as Treasurer.

Only this week it was revealed these cuts saw funding for residents going backwards, staff cut backs and aged care “losers” tripling.

The fact is that with Morrison - this money went out of the aged care budget and didn’t come back.

The waiting list for home care has grown to 127,000 older Australians, with many waiting more than a year to receive the care they have been approved for.

After five years, three Ministers and years of cuts this Government called a Royal Commission into Aged Care.

There are more than a dozen reviews sitting on the Government’s desk with recommendations on aged care that haven’t been implemented.

We should judge ourselves as a nation by how we treat our elderly.

Older Australians deserve better and won’t be fooled by Scott Morrison and the Liberals, who have done nothing but cut aged care funding for years.
