LABOR LAUNCHES NATIONAL SMALL BUSINESS ROADHOW

The Shadow Minister, for Small and Family Business, Brendan O’Connor, and the Shadow Assistant Minister, Matt Keogh, today officially launch a national listening tour of small businesses.
The tour will provide an opportunity for active engagement and consultation – a chance to listen and learn about the challenges and opportunities facing Australian small businesses.
There are 4.9 million people employed in Australian small businesses, accounting for 44.2 per cent of all private sector employees. Ensuring they thrive and flourish is vitally important to growing our economy.
Shadow Minister for Small and Family Business, Brendan O’Connor said: “As the former Small Business Minister, I understand that cultivating successful small businesses in our regions and our cities is vitally important to our growing economy.
“Small businesses are unique and face a variety of challenges. Through consultation, we can tackle these challenges but also explore growing opportunities and diversify our economy,” Mr O’Connor said.
Shadow Assistant Minister for Small and Family Business, Matt Keogh said: “Beginning my working career in my family's local small business, I understand the importance of supporting our small business community and will work to ensure Government does not ignore their needs.”
“Labor recognises that small and family businesses come in all shapes and across many sectors, from the single tradie to the tech start up or even family foundry exporting to the world,” he said.
We will report back to the Caucus and Shadow Cabinet with our findings early next year.
