New numbers reveal most workers aren’t accumulating enough superannuation, highlighting the danger of Liberals’ attacks on retirement incomes.
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia has found there continues to be a significant gap between what workers need to retire comfortably (about $640,000 for a couple) and what they are actually retiring with.
The solution to workers not being able to accrue enough super is to increase it, not smash it and undermine it like the Liberals are doing.
Liberal MPs have campaigned to rob 13 million Australian workers of the legislated increase to the Superannuation Guarantee they need, deserve and were promised; to make superannuation voluntary; and to make the family home part of the pension assets test.
The Liberals can’t be trusted when it comes to super, and will always do what they can to undermine it.
Labor created our world-leading superannuation system and we’ll always fight to protect it.
