SMALL BUSINESS LISTENING TOUR TO KICK OFF IN MELBOURNE

The Shadow Minister for Small Business, Brendan O’Connor, and the Shadow Assistant Minister, Matt Keogh, will today host the first event of the national small business listening tour in Melbourne.
In conjunction with MYOB, today will be an opportunity for active engagement and consultation – a chance to listen and learn about the challenges and opportunities facing Australian small businesses.
There are 4.9 million people employed in Australian small businesses, accounting for 44.2 per cent of all private sector employees. In Victoria alone there are over 604,000 small businesses and nearly 15,000 in the city of Yarra, where today’s event will be held.
Ensuring our small businesses thrive and flourish is vitally important to growing our economy.
Cultivating successful small businesses in our regions and our cities is vitally important to our growing economy.
Labor recognises that small and family businesses come in all shapes and across many sectors, from the single tradie to the tech start up or even family foundry exporting to the world.
Small businesses are unique and face a variety of challenges and the current government takes small businesses for granted.
Small business is the backbone of our economy and they deserve to have their voices heard and respected.
