SOCIAL INCLUSION COULD BOOST ECONOMY BY $12.7 BILLION

Social inclusion could boost the Australian economy by $12.7 billion according to a new report released today by SBS and Deloitte Access Economics.
By improving health and employment outcomes and increasing workplace productivity social inclusion can boost GDP growth and make Australia a fairer society.
There are massive economic and social benefits available to Australia by being more inclusive. Greater social inclusion means people are less likely to experience discrimination, increasing their capacity to seek employment and gain longer working hours - this report shows that we can and we must do better.
The recent Change at Work report by the Diversity Council of Australia found that even when businesses try to drive change for diversity and inclusion in the workplaces, it often fails.
The report found that attempts at workplace changes are only sometimes, rarely, or never implemented effectively.
Investing in people is the best investment we can make. Encouraging open and inclusive workplaces means better and more productive employees.
