NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK
AMANDA RISHWORTH
This week is National Child Protection Week.

Every day and every week is a day to reflect on and promote the interests and safety of children around Australia – no matter what suburb they live in or where they were born.

This year the focus of National Child Protection Week is on introducing a ‘child development’ communication frame to promote the messages that:
  • Kids do well when parents are supported
  • To raise thriving kids, parents need support to navigate life’s choppy waters.
These are themes that should be bipartisan across all political parties and all levels of government.

The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children, delivered by Labor in 2009 and continued under the Coalition is a key demonstration of this bi-partisan commitment. Labor looks forward to governments starting work on the fifth action plan in 2020.

Labor is pleased to support the work being done by the National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) to promote the interests of Australian children and their families.
