ENERGY RELIABILITY AT RISK UNDER ANGUS TAYLOR

The Australian Energy Market Operator has today warned Australians to expect the possibilities of blackouts this summer as the weather warms up and ageing coal-fired power stations continue to fail.

Angus Taylor is too busy fending off scandals to do his day job and end his Government’s ongoing energy crisis.

For six years this Government has had no plan to support the clean energy investment needed to replace ageing and increasingly unreliable coal-fired power stations.

According to the Clean Energy Council, renewable investment is down by over 60 per cent this year, while wholesale electricity prices are up by 20 per cent since Angus Taylor became the Minister for ‘bringing energy prices down'.

Rising prices and falling reliability are the inevitable result of the ongoing energy policy vacuum under the Liberals, and are not only hurting Australian families, but also putting manufacturers like Australia's aluminium smelters at risk.

While Angus Taylor tries to dodge scandal after scandal, power prices keep going up, reliability is under threat and emissions continue to rise. The only thing coming down under Angus Taylor are jobs and investment in the renewable energy sector.
