NO MORE EXCUSES, FIX YASS HOSPITAL

An Albanese Labor Government will invest $4.7 million to return maternity services to Yass Hospital.
Yass Hospital does not currently provide maternity services, forcing around 200 mothers a year to travel an hour to Canberra or Goulburn to give birth.
Faced with a lack of local services, a number of women have given birth on the Barton Highway.
Asked about this unacceptable situation in Parliament last week, Scott Morrison boasted about undelivered upgrades to the Barton Highway.
Mr Morrison’s dismissive attitude to local families has been rightly slammed by the experts:
“To joke that an upgraded highway is in any way a viable substitute for local birthing services is disgraceful.”

Like the experts, Kristy McBain and Labor know that Yass mums and bubs deserve better.
That’s why a Labor Government will build a maternity ward at Yass Hospital, allowing mothers to give birth closer to home. It will include a fully fitted-out birth room and a postnatal room for overnight stays.
Labor calls on the Government to match this commitment and give Yass families the certainty they deserve.
Returning maternity services to Yass Hospital is part of Kristy McBain’s health plan for Eden-Monaro, which also includes:
· Fighting to reverse Government changes to Medicare that have hurt regional areas;
· Campaigning to continue Medicare telehealth rebates; and
· Working to make sure the NSW Government delivers its promised Eurobodalla Hospital on time.
The Eden-Monaro by-election on Saturday 4 July is a chance to tell politicians in Canberra and Sydney that they need to make local hospitals a priority.
Only Kristy McBain will be a strong voice for better local health care in Eden-Monaro.
