SCOTT MORRISON MUST HEED UNITED CALL FOR SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT

The united call from a range of small business and professional services organisations for a Small Business Viability Review program to be included in the Federal Budget must be listened to by the Morrison Government.
As noted by the Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman Kate Carnell:
CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), Council of Small Business Australia (COSBOA) and the Ombudsman are calling for a government funded subsidy to ensure small businesses can access urgently needed professional advice on their viability.
In April Labor wrote to Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar suggesting the government introduce a voucher scheme for accredited accountants and professional service providers to assist small businesses with the JobKeeper payment scheme and cash-flow boost measure.
We have not received a reply.
The need for this type of support is only heightened with the ongoing recession, the withdrawal of critical support from the economy during the worst recession in almost a century, and the announcement of measures such as the complex insolvency reforms announced by the Government last week.
Businesses are already closing, workers are already being laid off and many vulnerable Australians are at serious risk. A professional services subsidy would help small businesses with serious cash-flow issues access professional advice.
Vulnerable workers, businesses and communities need and deserve a comprehensive plan to get them through the recovery and alleviate some of the understandable anxiety in the community.
