MORE JOBS FOR LIBERAL MATES
RICHARD MARLES MP
Another day, another taxpayer-funded job for a Liberal mate.
This time, the Morrison Government is reportedly tapping former Liberal Minister Bruce Billson to be the new Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman.
Bruce Billson, former Member for Dunkley and Small Business Minister, retired from Parliament in 2016 but received a rare censure by Parliament in 2018.
It was revealed that he had failed to list his external salary on his compulsory register of members’ interests and had received undeclared payments from a business lobby group while still in Parliament.
Right now, the Government’s priority should be helping small businesses to recover from the pandemic. Instead, they are handing out $360,000 a year jobs to former Members of Parliament who broke the rules.
The Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman should be an advocate for the interests of small and family businesses, not an advocate for the Liberal Party.
This appointment shows both Scott Morrison’s disregard for parliamentary standards and for ensuring an effective small business advocate at the national level.
The only people who get good, secure, well-paid jobs under the Liberals are fellow Liberals.
How can the Liberals look after Australians, when they're so busy looking after themselves? Australians deserve a Government that’s on their side.
