JUST 31 DAYS LEFT FOR AVIATION JOBKEEPER LIFELINE
CATHERINE KING MP
It is now more important than ever that the Morrison Government doesn’t cut aviation off when JobKeeper ends in just 31 days.

Today Qantas has announced a half-year loss of over a billion dollars and further pushing back their international schedule,

Until borders reopen, 7,500 Qantas workers and many more across aviation will remain stood down. Without JobKeeper, these workers and their families will be left with nothing.

Cutting off support in March cannot be an option.

Throughout this crisis, the Morrison Government has denied support to airports, denied JobKeeper to Dnata workers and allowed Virgin Australia to fall into administration.
Because of these failures, the Morrison Government has already overseen the loss of almost 10,00 jobs at our major carriers.

If they continue to do nothing, they will be responsible for thousands more job losses.

This crisis has lasted almost 12 months now. But instead of coming up with a plan for aviation, the Morrison Government has fed market chaos, caused job losses and put in danger the regional routes that communities rely on.

Qantas, Virgin Australia, the Australian Airports Association and trade unions are all calling for further support for aviation.

The Deputy Prime Minister needs to get off his hands and act before even more damage is done to this essential industry.
