PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY GET SUPPORTS CUT
BILL SHORTEN MP
The Coalition continues to slash by stealth the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

People with disability and their service providers were shocked to learn today the Scheme will no longer fund support coordinators for tens of thousands of people on the NDIS.

Support coordinators help people with disability find their way through the increasingly bureaucratic NDIS and negotiate with an Agency that they find increasingly hostile.

The latest cuts have come with next to no warning and will take effect on Sunday leaving the disability community in disarray

It is a backflip on the Government’s commitment in October that the flexibility would remain indefinitely.

And it is a continuation of an increasingly clear plan by NDIS Minister Stuart Robert to slash the NDIS by stealth.

The brutal Slash-The-NDIS agenda includes Mr Robert –
  • Forcing 400,000 people to ‘re-audition’ via ‘Independent Assessments’ to remain on the scheme
  • Squeezing access and funding for Supported Independent Living
  • Ripping a whopping $4.6 billion out of the NDIS
  • Planning to remove the Scheme’s keystone ‘reasonable and necessary’ test in looming legislation
This slashing - and these latest cuts - only disempower people with disability.

The Liberals know Australians would oppose dumping the NDIS, so they are simply slashing it by stealth.

This is cowardly and cruel.

Australians with disability deserve better.

This Government needs to get its hands off the NDIS.
