NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK 2021
CATHERINE KING MP
This week is National Road Safety Week, an important opportunity to remember those we have lost on our roads and who have been and remain affected by injury, and commit to drive so others survive.

During the 12 months ended April 2021, 1,133 people have sadly been killed on our roads.

In April alone, there have been 84 road deaths.

Slowing down, protecting every life and getting home safely are some of the features of National Road Safety Week this year.

National Road Safety Week is an initiative of the Safe Australian Roads and Highways Group, led by Mr Peter Frazer who tragically lost his 23 year old daughter in a road crash on the Hume Highway in 2012. For the last eight years, Peter and the National Road Safety Week has drawn much needed attention on how important it is to be safe on the roads and to drive so others survive.

Labor would like to congratulate Mr Frazer for his continued hard work and dedication to promoting awareness on this very important national issue.

We would also encourage you to visit roadsafetyweek.com.au to make the pledge and lead the way to drive safely for not only your own benefit, but for that of other road users around you.

Take the pledge and drive so others survive!
