Morrison Government launches Your Healthy Pregnancy campaign
Greg Hunt MP
Expectant mums will receive additional support on how to stay healthy whilst pregnant, through the Morrison Government’s Your Healthy Pregnancy campaign.

The campaign will increase awareness of the importance and benefits of appropriate physical activity, good nutrition and social and emotional wellbeing before and during pregnancy.

Making sure all Australians have the best start to life is a Government priority. The easily accessible information and resources will help people intending to start a family, as well as pregnant women.

Research with consumers and health professionals informed the campaign. The campaign focusses on three pillars for a health pregnancy:

·         Eat nutritious food to help your baby develop
·         Stay active to prepare your body for labour and recovery
·         Reach out if you need support.

Under the 2018–19 Budget measure Infant Health – Healthy Pregnancies, the Australian Government invested $77.9 million in maternal, infant and preventive health.

Of this, $3 million over four years supported the development of resources for pregnant women and their partners including evidence-based physical activity guidelines in pregnancy.

In addition, targeted materials for culturally and linguistically diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences are planned.

The Your Healthy Pregnancy campaign is part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to implement the National Women’s Health Strategy 2020–2030 and improve long term health outcomes for women and girls.
