APPRENTICE NUMBERS HIGHER UNDER LABOR
RICHARD MARLES MP
Skills training has gone backwards under the Coalition, as confirmed in The Australiantoday.
The Morrison-Joyce Government has overseen the number of apprentices and trainees in Australia plummet from 515,000 in 2012, when Labor was in government.
The Morrison-Joyce Government is now playing catch-up footy in a desperate attempt to claw back nearly a decade of lost skills, with only 330,000 this year.
Nationally one in five apprenticeships and traineeships have disappeared under this Government.
Less apprenticeships and traineeships mean less job opportunities for Australians now and less skilled workers for the future.
Businesses are crying out for skilled and qualified staff but the pipeline to train workers has been reduced to a trickle.
It turns out cutting $3 billion from our vocational training system really does have an impact.
